July 2017 – Celebrating excellence is the key theme of the next few months! Mainly because there is so much to tell and enthuse you about that I thought it would be good to focus purely on celebration – the why, how, what and where!

Paying tribute to those involved in recent events
July 2017 – None of us can fail to have been affected by the events of the past month in Manchester and London. The terrorist events and the awful tragedy at Grenfell Tower have brought out the very worst and yet also the very, very best of humanity.
Catching our breath and gradually progressing plans
June 2016 – Much to tell from the corridors of London and other places I have managed to visit in the past month! A real highlight was the trip to Belfast to join Northern Irish colleagues at their Annual Meeting.
Reflecting on winter and planning ahead
May 2017 – Rattling cages, battling (media) dragons and the ‘rock and roll’ of EM! These seem to have been some of the key themes of my first six months of presidency. Time has indeed flown by but amongst the wider crisis facing the NHS, there has been a clear RCEM message heard loud and clear that if governments value emergency care systems in this country (as the public seem to) then they will need to prioritise to support us and invest wisely.
The first six months – springing forward
April 2016 – Rattling cages, battling (media) dragons and the ‘rock and roll’ of EM! These seem to have been some of the key themes of my first six months of presidency. President’s Blog March 2017
March 2017 – Measurement! As the first signs of spring begin to show it seems a key topic to think about, reflect upon and share some of my thoughts with you on. I am also influenced by the events of the past week or so (as I write this in the second week of January) which have seen the College very much on the front foot and so early in the New Year. More on that to come!
President’s Blog February 2017
Feb 2017 – I sit writing these words in the ‘cold glow’ of early December a few weeks after the Autumn Statement by the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, trying to find some crumbs of comfort.
President’s Blog January 2017
Jan 2017 – The first day of a new calendar year seems to ‘hard wire’ into many of us a need to reflect and also look forward – hopefully with optimism, a healthy dose of sceptism and almost certainly with plenty of stoicism when it comes to working in the Emergency Dept!
President’s Blog December 2016
Dec 2016 – December- a month for ideas, planning and action as we head for the festive season! At the College, life has been no different over the past few weeks and months as a range of activities have finally come to fruition and with great success.
President’s Blog November 2016
Nov 2016 – And so it begins! A new presidency, with its heady mix of hard work, sweat, excitement and a little trepidation. Similar perhaps to a busy late shift in the Emergency Department.
