{"id":571,"date":"2021-04-22T12:47:56","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T11:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/president.rcem.ac.uk\/?p=571"},"modified":"2022-08-10T10:42:46","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T09:42:46","slug":"earth-day-2021-rcem-and-the-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/president.rcem.ac.uk\/index.php\/2021\/04\/22\/earth-day-2021-rcem-and-the-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Earth Day 2021: RCEM and the environment"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Around the world people will be marking Earth Day on the 22 April and we thought it would be a good time to update you on what RCEM\u2019s Environmental Specialist Interest Group (ESIG) has been doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earth Day is a good time to reflect on climate and environmental emergency we are facing and hopefully will inspire you to get out into and make a connection with the natural world near you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t yet had the chance then please have a look at our concepts article which was in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcem.ac.uk\/RCEM\/Membership\/Emergency_Medicine_Journal__EMJ_notloggedin.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this month\u2019s EMJ<\/a>. In it we highlight the hotspots in our clinical practice which have the highest environmental impact and ideas of how we can address these and improve our environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also pleased with the progress of our flagship project GreenED. GreenED is an online framework that will provide Emergency Departments with a clear guide on how to improve their environmental sustainability.
